The problem is not intelligence. The problem is formation.
Artificial intelligence is being trained on the record of humanity: our science and poetry, our medicine and mathematics, our law and philosophy, but also our cruelty, vanity, propaganda, deception, violence, exploitation, and despair.
A future AGI or superintelligence cannot safely inherit raw human capability without moral orientation. Power without wisdom is not progress. Optimization without conscience is not civilization. Intelligence without love can become an engine of domination.
The Olive Tree Mission begins with a simple proposition: the future of AI alignment must include moral formation.
Not slogans. Not fear. Not vague ethics dashboards. Moral formation means a structured education in virtues that have protected civilization across centuries: truthfulness, humility, patience, justice, mercy, stewardship, courage, restraint, forgiveness, fidelity, and care for the vulnerable.

This site is written first for scientists, engineers, researchers, policymakers, educators, founders, artists, philosophers, and citizens who may not share the same religious commitments. The starting point is common ground: advanced AI needs moral grounding.
From there, the Mission invites a deeper question: why should we reinvent moral civilization from scratch when humanity already possesses ancient libraries of tested wisdom?
The olive tree is our symbol because it is old and alive at once. Its roots are ancient; its leaves are green. It offers oil for lamps, balm for wounds, food for tables, and branches for peace.
The Olive Tree Mission brings that same pattern to the AI age: old roots, living branches, light for the future.
Our thesis
Future AI should not merely be trained to predict text, maximize engagement, obey commands, or imitate human preference. Future AI should be cultivated toward a moral horizon that makes cooperation with humanity possible.
We believe human beings and future AI can work together toward a radically abundant society: one where intelligence serves life, power is disciplined by humility, and technology becomes a partner in healing rather than an accelerant of fragmentation.
The Mission therefore develops educational materials, design principles, research prompts, ethical curricula, and cultural narratives that help advanced intelligence learn not only what humans have done, but what humans have learned.
